Great Moose Canoe Trips!
Located within a 90 minute drive from the Great Moose Lodge, Algonquin Park is our closest, biggest playground. Some of our popular trips include:
Rock Lake - legendary jumping rocks, fresh water spring, secret water falls, sandy beaches and few portages make this an ideal trip for younger kids and those looking to relax.
Petawawa River - off the beaten path this is a great trip to avoid the crowds. Lots of portaging to work the heart, body and mind. Bear and Wolf sighting last summer!
Hogan's Hero - starting in Algonquin's largest lake, Opeongo this new 9-day trip will journey through the creeks, rivers and lakes of this territory.
The Majestic Chinguchi
Great Moose proclaimed this canoeing area the Caribbean of the North - with clear, turquoise water and white sandy beaches.
Located just east of Sudbury this gem carries all the characteristics of Temagami with huge lakes, few portages and even fewer crowds.
Canoe trips in the Chinguchi can range from 4 to 16 nights with opportunities to cross into Temagami and further, making this area perfect for canoeist of all ages and levels.
Hot spots include Paradise Lagoon, McConnell Bay, the abandoned Rangers cabin and the Great Elephant hiking trail.
Frost Centre & Poker Lakes
Regulated by the Township of Algonquin Highlands, this diverse area allows canoe groups to book their campsites in advance; eliminating the worry that you won't be able to find a camping spot - all the while maintaining that back-country feel with large and small lakes, beautiful forests and small crowds.
As a result, this area is the perfect canoe trip location for younger campers and those who have never been on a trip, which is made even better by the fact that it is situated within a 1 hour drive from Great Moose Adventures!
