Junior Guides & Counselors (Youth ages 16 & 17) - Work Program

Great Moose Adventures  Junior Guide and Junior Counselor program is a Summer Job opportunity created to provide a work opportunity in the field of outdoor education for youth aged 16 & 17.

Students in the program will receive valuable work experience, a summer wage and an exciting summer filled with canoeing, swimming, camping, forest exploration and so much more.

Job duties vary pending the students experience and personal interests, but focus on:
  • canoe tripping
  • life guarding
  • inquiry based, creative educational programming
  • team building
  • arts & crafts
  • sports and outdoor recreation
  • camping
  • first aid and outdoor survival
  • cooking, gardening and lawn maintenance


Job Specifics:

  • students must be able to fulfill a summer contract (8-9 weeks), including a staff training week
  • Great Moose Adventures summer programming is residential, so participants would need to stay on site from Monday to Friday throughout the summer with weekends off
  •  students must be flexible with job duties - helping out wherever necessary


Job Requirements:

  • Participants must hold a valid swim certification. NLS certificate  (National Life Saving) is recommended, but we will consider applicants with Bronze Cross
  • Participants must complete a Wilderness First Aid training course - offered by Great Moose Adventures during staff training week
