Junior Guides - Canoe Trippers 

Youth ages 12 - 15
-campers aged 11 with previous leadership or canoe tripping experience will be considered

Our Junior Guide program is an exciting summer camp for youth who are interested in canoe tripping and developing leadership skills. With only 7 available spots - register as soon as possible : )

Working alongside the Great Moose Adventure educators, LIT students will focus on:

  • team building and co-operation activities
  •  developing healthy, active living skills
  •  canoe, camping, swimming, hiking and forest exploration
  •  food preparation and cooking fun
  •  leading outdoor sports, games and fun activities
  • first aid and outdoor adventure safety
How does the Junior Guide program work?

Week 1: Leader in Training Canoe Trip - Sunday, June 28 (5pm) to Friday, July 3 (4pm)


  • participate in 5 day/5 night Algonquin Park canoe trip
  • develop flat water, canoeing  & portaging skills 
  • campfire cooking - safety training & real life practise
  • opportunity for leadership development - mapping & compass skills, first aid, forest games & activities 
  • team building with other LIT participants


Week 2: Join another Canoe Trip, as a Junior Guide (you choose the date)


  • work alongside our Lead & Assistant Canoe guides to lead a trip 
  • stern canoes and portage camp equipment
  • participate in meal preparation using camp fire
  • gain valuable leadership skills in communication 
  • develop self confidence and gain strength in mind & body

How do I choose the date for the  2nd canoe trip?

  1. Click the green registration button on the right 
  2. Select your top 3 preferred weeks for the Junior Guide Canoe Trip
  3. We will contact you with your chosen date. 

Cost: $1300 plus HST

Junior Guides will learn the skills to lead a canoe trip, while also developing effective strategies for leading a healthy, active life - all the while having a great time and making friends & beneficial contacts.
