*stay tuned for to meet our teachers for 2023!

Sophia Sanslone

Sophia is going into her 3rd year of a Bachelor of Education at Brock University, with a goal of teaching biology and geography at the high school level.  She is passionate about all things outdoors, especially swimming, hiking, and volleyball! She has experience in coaching volleyball, teaching swimming lessons, and being a camp counselor.

Sophia is excited to use her knowledge and experience of teaching and working with children, and her love for outdoor adventure to make this summer fun and meaningful for all campers!

Brittany Schulz

Brittany is in her 3rd year at Nipissing University working on her Bachelor of  Social Work degree - with a goal to become an elementary school counsellor.  As part of this program, she has been an active participant in the Frontier College youth program, organizing and leading programs for local youth and joining in the Reading buddy initiative to share her love of reading and help out in her community. She is also a volunteer at the North Bay Food bank and worked at the Sportsplex in Bracebridge, coaching basketball, and assisting with the rock climbing wall.

Brittany is super excited to join the team at Great Moose Adventures to combine her love for outdoor adventure, canoeing, and sports, with the opportunity to learn more about experiential learning in an outdoor setting.

Emerald Smeaton

Emerald is in her final year of her Bachelor of Arts in Childhood and Youth Studies and Minor in Sociology – with a goal to obtain a Bachelor of Education and become a primary school teacher in the future. Emerald has experience volunteering at the Western Ottawa Community Resource Center with the EarlyON play group. She grew up camping with her family, and participated in sports such as soccer, basketball, and cheerleading. Emerald is excited to spend this summer outdoors inspiring kids with creative and fun activities.

Molly Bowman

This is Molly's second summer at Great Moose Adventures, working with the Junior campers,  helping out at Kahshe River with her NLS qualifications and creating inquiry-based programs for all of our campers.

Molly is currently heading into her 4th year of a Bachelor of Education at Nipissing University on her path to teaching at the primary level in the future.

She is an accomplished swimmer and basketball player, which has led to coaching, teaching swimming lessons and taking on a role as water safety instructor throughout local community.

Troy McConnell

Troy graduated in 2014 with an Ontario College Diploma for Fitness and Health Promotion at Fanshawe College. He holds a TEFL certification and has had extensive experience teaching English to children at camps and schools throughout Italy.

Most recently, he has been facilitating ESL lessons and Supply Teaching at Edge Hill Country Skill in Durham, Ontario; assisting teachers in Grade 1-8 with various lessons related to the Waldorf education philosophy.

Troy is also an accomplished outdoor enthusiast, spending time as a Park Operator at Liard River Hot Springs in British Columbia, playing competitive rugby and working at the Meaford Family Outdoor Resource Centre. He is an NLS certified life guard and is excited to be swimming and canoeing with the campers at Great Moose Adventures

Hailie Vance

Hailie is a former Great Moose Adventures camper who attended day camp and completed a Temagami canoe trip when she was in middle school. She has recently graduated from Georgian College where she completed a liberal studies program focusing on psycology, and is planning to attend Queens University in the Fall to complete a degree in psycology - with a goal to establish a career rooted in human science.

She discovered a fondness for working with children through a Highschool co-op program where she was able to volunteer in a local grade 2 classroom, helping the kids academically and socially. She is super excited to return to Great Moose Adventures as a leader, and to work alongside some of the teachers she had as a camper.

Sarah Pfaff

Sarah is a local entrepreneur who cofounded a clothing company called Genuine Life Apparel, where she focused on the social media, website, marketing and photography.

With a background working with children through Girl Guides and the Purple Woods Maple Syrup Festival where she had the opportunity to interactively teach groups of children about the history of maple syrup in our country - she has decided to begin her path towards education.

She is super excited to be joining the team at Great Moose Adventures to share her love for nature, creative arts and outdoor recreation with our summer campers. She is also hoping to gain some experience working alongside our teachers.
